Semi-welded plate heat exchangers are the standard choice for industrial refrigeration and hazardous chemical processes. By laser welding two plates together to create a sealed "cassette" for the aggressive media, the risk of leakage is virtually eliminated on the critical side.
The non aggressive side (often cooling water) remains gasketed, allowing the unit to be opened for mechanical cleaning on that side delivering a thermal solution that is both incredibly safe and highly maintainable.
